Accountability & the Scales of Lies
Share
“He who hides his transgressions shall not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them finds compassion.”
— Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 28:13, TS2009
The Lies We Tell Ourselves
"I'm fine."
"It’s not that bad."
"I can handle it on my own."
"I’ll fix it eventually."
"No one needs to know."
These are the lies men often speak—not always out loud, but within.
Lies that build walls. Lies that keep healing just out of reach. Lies that dull the Spirit and numb the heart.
But YHWH doesn’t deal in deception.
He is truth. And where truth is—there is freedom.
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
— Yoḥanan (John) 8:32, TS2009
Accountability Sets You Free
Accountability is not punishment—it’s protection.
It’s not about judgment—it’s about light breaking into the dark places.
You need men in your life who will call you higher.
You need space where you don’t have to fake it.
You need brothers who sharpen you, not ones who let you slowly die inside.
“Iron is sharpened by iron, and a man sharpens the face of his friend.”
— Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 27:17, TS2009
Stop hiding what’s hurting you.
Stop wearing a mask that protects your pride but poisons your peace.
Let YHWH remove the scales from your eyes—and replace them with vision.
Action Steps:
1. Name one lie you've been believing about yourself. Write it down—then cross it out and replace it with a Scripture promise.
2. Find one brother you can open up to this week. Even 5 minutes of honesty is a breakthrough.
3. Invite accountability—not for perfection, but for progress. You don’t need to be flawless. You need to be real.
