Breaking the Broadcast of Fear: Returning to Strength in YHWH
Share
No 24-hour news cycle. No endless scroll of curated lives.
No global panic at your fingertips.
Just community. Local connection. Real people.
Yes, bad things still happened. But they weren’t broadcast every hour of the day, embedding fear into our souls like seeds. People focused on what mattered... their homes, their neighbors, their faith. And I often wonder if that's why so many had stronger roots.
We weren’t created to carry the weight of the world.
We were created to carry the light of YHWH.
“For Elohim has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of self-control.” Timotiyos Bĕt (2 Timothy) 1:7, TS2009
But somewhere along the way, fear became a familiar companion.
It was small at first... just staying updated. Just "being prepared."
Then came the addiction to know what everyone else was doing—to be seen, to see.
And fear crept in.
I remember when I had to unfriend EVERYONE on social media.
Not out of hate, but because the fear was consuming me.
I had to get off social media just to break the temptation to sign back on!
It even led me to beg my husband to build a bunker...
I was terrified... of people, of pain, of losing control.
I called it wisdom. I called it “knowing the times.”
But underneath it all… it was fear.
Even the Christian prepper shows I used to love—they stirred something that looked like preparation... but felt like panic.
And I convinced myself:
“It’s my duty to hide away. To be cautious. To survive. To know the times.”
But that isn’t trust.
That isn’t love.
That isn’t YHWH.
“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear holds punishment, and he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” Yoḥanan Aleph (1 John) 4:18, TS2009
You see, fear isolates.
Love gathers.
Fear builds walls.
Love builds bridges.
Fear says, “Protect yourself.”
Love says, “Lay yourself down.”
And if you have to log off for a while—do it!
If you have to reset your heart and retrain your mind—do it!
You’re not missing out on the world— you’re stepping back into His world.
You were never meant to carry the fears of every headline.
You were meant to shine in your community, in your family, on your street.
Let’s get back to that.
Let’s return to peace.
To presence.
To power through YHWH.
Because one person walking in love and fearless obedience can spark a ripple of restoration... even toward those we were once afraid of.
Ready to break free from fear and live rooted in truth?
You were never meant to carry the chaos of the world—
only to carry the presence of YHWH wherever you go.

What the Studies Say: Fear, Media, and the Spirit of Control
Sometimes the most powerful way to reclaim peace is to unplug from the noise.
This isn’t just a spiritual truth—it’s a scientific one.
Here’s what research and Scripture both affirm:
Fear-Based Media Fuels Anxiety
A 2014 study published in Health Psychology found that repeated exposure to distressing news—even after an event—can lead to long-term increases in fear, anxiety, and trauma-like symptoms.
Fear doesn't just inform—it forms us.
Holman et al., 2014 – Health Psychology
Social Media Disrupts Peace
The Canadian Journal of Psychiatry (2020) reported that frequent social media use is closely tied to anxiety, depression, loneliness, and a distorted sense of identity—especially for those already vulnerable.
What you scroll is what you sow.
Apocalyptic Messaging Can Wound
A 2018 study in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion revealed that religious media rooted in fear (without redemptive balance) can actually increase mistrust and isolation in believers—contrary to the unity Scripture calls us to embody.
Fear Triggers the Need for Control
Another study from Political Psychology (2006) found that fear-based content fuels a desire for control—making people more likely to withdraw, build walls, or prepare for worst-case scenarios.

It’s not too late to step out of it.
