A Word From My Husband

Go to War With Your Vices
You don’t reason with your vices.
You don’t negotiate with your bad habits.
You go to war with them.
Because they’re not passive. They’re not sitting quietly, waiting for permission to ruin your life. They ambush you in moments of weakness when you're tired, stressed, bored, or alone.
"Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”— 1 Peter 5:8
Every excuse you make?
That’s them whispering in your ear, trying to keep you chained to the version of yourself that’s easy to control.
Undisciplined. Distracted. Weak.
"Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”— Matthew 26:41
But you weren’t made for chains.
You were made to fight.
“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”— Galatians 5:1
You were made for discipline, for growth, for clarity of mind and strength of character.
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”— 2 Timothy 1:7
Every time you give in to that vice, be it laziness, anger, procrastination, addiction, or self-pity, you give up a piece of your potential.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”— Romans 12:2
And that should make you furious.
So draw a line.
Pick a fight.
Because this is a battle worth waging every single day.
“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…”— 1 Timothy 6:12
Build a routine like armor.
Train your mind like a weapon.
Surround yourself with people who sharpen you like steel.
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”— Ephesians 6:11
“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”— Proverbs 27:17
The war is within, and that’s the best kind.
Because if you win there, nothing outside of you can defeat you.
“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”— 1 John 4:4
Burn the old version of yourself down.
“Put to death therefore what is earthly in you…”— Colossians 3:5
And rise from the ashes:
Stronger. Focused. Free.
Not perfect, but powerful.
Not done, but dangerous.
“Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.”— Micah 7:8
Because now?
You’re at war.
And you’re not losing anymore.
