Praise & Worship: Whose Frequency Are You Tuned Into?
Share
There were seasons when I was all in, soaking in every lyric that lifted YHWH’s Name high. But then came the excuses…
“Not my genre.”
“The beat feels off.”
“I just don’t connect.”
But throw on some secular rap, hip hop, rock, or country? Suddenly, I was feeling it. My mood shifted. My energy changed. I was fueled—for something.
And that’s the problem, isn’t it?
Music has power.
It shapes emotion. It guides decisions. It alters atmospheres.
It’s not neutral. It’s spiritual.
Spiritual warfare often begins in sound.
I used to think that was a stretch… but Scripture and science agree:
What we listen to is what we come into agreement with.
Frequencies matter. Words matter. Atmosphere matters.
YHWH created music. He designed it for His glory.
“Sing to יהוה a new song! Sing to יהוה, all the earth!” Tehillim/Psalm 96:1 (TS2009)
So why is it so hard to play worship music when every genre now has something that glorifies YHWH?
Why do we crave the sound of the world that fed our flesh—but hesitate to play what ministers to our spirit?
Believe it or not...but I used to run to secular rap.
Now? I run with worship rap pounding in my ears.
And it’s not just background noise—it’s warfare.
It reminds me who I am, whose I am, and what battle I’m actually in.
Because when I gave myself over to the lyrics of this world, I wasn’t just vibing—I was feeding demons with my agreement.
And here’s the kicker:
Science confirms that violent lyrics breed violent thoughts.
Negative frequencies cause unrest in the brain.
But worship?
Worship brings peace.
It rewires the brain, settles the nervous system, and aligns our hearts to the frequency of Heaven.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not fight according to the flesh. For the weapons we fight with are not fleshly but mighty in Elohim for overthrowing strongholds.”
2 Corinthians 10:3–4 (TS2009)
So next time that nostalgic hit comes on—the one that takes you back to a moment in time—pause and ask:
"Do I want to relive that fruit, that spirit, that moment... or do I want to walk forward in freedom?"
If a song is stuck in your head, don’t assume it’s harmless.
Ask YHWH:
"Is this from You—or a counterfeit trying to hijack my worship?"
Because make no mistake—we’re always worshiping something.
So stand guard.
Tune your ears.
And fill your atmosphere with sounds that declare His Name.
