Rediscovering Joy in the Heart of Home
Share
For nearly twenty years of marriage, my main role has been that of a stay-at-home wife and homeschooling mom. I've had my share of side jobs and small businesses along the way, but at the core, I was always there for my family. And for a long time, I truly saw it as the blessing it is.
But somewhere along the line, I kind of lost sight of that joy. Maybe it was the busyness of juggling different ventures, maybe it was just the ebb and flow of life changes or even a bit of hormonal shift. Whatever it was, I realized I’d put that sense of purpose on the back burner. It wasn't that I thought being at home wasn't good; I just forgot to find the delight in it. Over time, it started to feel a bit mundane.
But YHWH has a way of bringing us back to what matters. I’m so thankful because this journey has taught me a lot about myself. Now, I'm not just returning to that role as a joyful housewife—I’m embracing it in a new light. I'm learning to let my husband fully step into his role as the spiritual head of our home, something that I honestly struggled with in the past. But as I’ve seen him grow in his faith and surrender to God, it’s become easier to lean into that beautiful design.
And a big part of rediscovering that joy happened while we were working through our "Love Grows Here" journal together. Sitting down as a couple and going through those reflections really helped us reconnect and find that sense of purpose again. If you’d like to explore that journal or find more resources like it, you can check them out at humblehappenings.com.
Here’s to embracing the blessing of home with fresh eyes and a joyful heart.
