The Quiet Protest of Obedience

The Quiet Protest of Obedience

Have you ever stopped buying from a company—not because of the price or the product—but because of their morals?

Have you ever said “no” to something popular or convenient because it stood against what YHWH has called you to?

That is a form of protest. But not the kind you see on TV.

It’s quiet. It’s personal. It’s holy.

As I sat down to study this week’s Torah portion, I realized something:

We are meant to be protesters.

Not with signs and shouting—but with obedience.

With Sabbath-keeping. With clean eating. With modest living.

With our refusal to blend in.

YHWH has called us to be set-apart—qadosh—for Him.

> “For you are a set-apart people to YHWH your Elohim. YHWH your Elohim has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a treasured possession above all the peoples on the face of the earth.”—Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 7:6, TS2009

When I choose not to shop on Sabbath, I’m making a statement.

Even if the business doesn’t notice… Heaven does.

Even if they don’t care… I’m showing YHWH that I care about what He cares about.

And if enough of us stop supporting the world’s ways, they’ll begin to ask, “Why?”

And in that question is a seed—planted, waiting to grow.

When I say no to pork, it isn’t just about what’s on my plate.

It’s about aligning myself with the wisdom of the Most High, trusting that He knows what is clean, what is pure, and what is life-giving.

It’s another act of resistance against a culture that says, “Do whatever you want.”

> “You do not bring an abomination into your house, lest you be accursed like it. Utterly loathe it and utterly hate it, for it is accursed.”—Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 7:26, TS2009

Whether it’s refusing to participate in unclean food, worldly holidays, unethical business, or entertainment that mocks righteousness—we are protesting the ways of Mitsrayim (Egypt), Bavel (Babylon), and the systems of man.

Our obedience is a banner. A testimony.

> “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”—Romiyim (Romans) 12:2, TS2009

The world calls us “strange.”

YHWH calls us His.

This walk isn’t about legalism. It’s about love.

It’s about allegiance. Covenant. Faithfulness.

Our lives should reflect a message:

“I belong to YHWH.”

We may never know who is watching.

But we can be sure—our children are.

Our neighbors are.

Our Elohim is.

So keep planting seeds.

Even in the mundane. Even in your grocery list.

Because every act of obedience echoes louder than you think.

> “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Master and not to men.”—Qolasim (Colossians) 3:23, TS2009

Let your life be a living protest—of love, of truth, of righteousness.
