The Silent Battle – Breaking the Silence
Share
"Bear one another’s burdens, and so complete the Torah of the Messiah.”
— Galatiyim (Galatians) 6:2, TS2009
The Unspoken War
You can see it in their eyes.
A weariness that doesn’t always speak.
A smile that hides the exhaustion.
A laugh that covers the weight.
Men all around us are fighting battles no one talks about. Depression. Anxiety. Shame. Pressure. Father wounds. Marital struggles. Financial stress. Addictions. Identity confusion. Suicidal thoughts. And the worst part? Most feel they must face it all alone.
According to the data:
Globally, one man dies by suicide every minute.
In the U.S., nearly 80% of all suicides are men.
Men are far less likely to seek help for mental health, often due to shame, cultural norms, or fear of appearing “weak.”
But Scripture paints a very different picture.
YHWH did not create man to be isolated or silent in suffering.
He created man to walk in strength, but also in truth. And truth says, You’re not alone.
Messiah Didn’t Suffer Alone—Why Should You?
Yeshua (Messiah) was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief (Yeshayahu/Isaiah 53:3). He wept. He was overwhelmed in the garden. He asked His closest friends to stay awake and watch with Him.
He didn’t hide His pain.
So why do so many men believe that showing pain is weakness?
“The righteous cry out, and יהוה hears, And delivers them out of all their distresses.”
— Tehillim (Psalms) 34:17, TS2009
Strong Men Speak Up
Strong men don’t hide.
Strong men heal.
They lead their families in truth, not in silence.
They confront the lies they’ve believed and replace them with YHWH’s promises.
It takes more courage to be honest than it does to pretend.
It takes more strength to ask for help than to suffer in silence.
It takes a real man to say, “I’m not okay… but I won’t stay here.”
You Are Not Alone
If this is hitting home for you, hear this:
You are not a burden. You are not weak. You are not alone. You are not failing.
You are a beloved son of the Most High, a pillar in your home, a warrior in the Kingdom. And even if no one else sees the weight you carry, YHWH does.
And He says:
“When you pass through the waters, I am with you; and through rivers, they do not overflow you. When you walk through fire, you are not scorched, and a flame does not burn you.”
— Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 43:2, TS2009
Action Steps:
1. Reach out to a brother today—check in or open up. Even one conversation can shift everything.
2. Journal or pray about one thing you’ve been hiding. Let truth break the silence.
3. Start a fast from self-silencing lies. Whenever a lie arises (“I can’t tell anyone”), counter it with truth (“YHWH is near to the brokenhearted.”)
